8 month anniversary*

Thanks to all for your continual prayers for Dan. Tomorrow he gets his second PET/CT scan to check on the metabolic activity, presence and size of the tumors in his liver and pancreas. We are hoping and praying for a substantial decrease in size. I will post the results when available. Dan has now gone through 2 half-dose chemo treatments without spiking a neutropenic fever. That is a great blessing to all of us. Thank you Lord.
I have been staying with my mom and sister and they had two doctor’s visits recently and both doctors were absolutely amazed at my sister Leslie (she was run over by a bus eight months ago today*). “Miracle” they both said and I heartily agree and praise and thank my LORD God for His healing miracle, mercy and grace. May He bring full restoration to her and my mother, body and soul. (Isaiah 53)
I recently was made aware of a West Point cadet, Chris, who was in a serious accident and has been is a coma since early July. Please pray for him and his family.
The pastor’s challenge to us last Sunday was in the realm of idolatry. If you read the prophets of the Bible that subject is a frequent one. Isaiah 44 is such an excellent picture of God’s perspective on the idols of that time.
So what are our idols? Maybe not wood carved statues as in their day, but let us be honest before the Lord and ask Him to reveal those things we hold dearer in our hearts than Him, the One true God, the only One worthy of our worship and praise. ( Exodus 20 )
Have mercy on us Lord and lead us to repentance and true worship.
Isa 44:21-24
“Remember these things, O Jacob,
for you are my servant, O Israel.
I have made you, you are my servant;
O Israel, I will not forget you.
I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
your sins like the morning mist.
Return to me,
for I have redeemed you.”
Sing for joy, O heavens, for the Lord has done this;
shout aloud, O earth beneath.
Burst into song, you mountains,
you forests and all your trees,
for the Lord has redeemed Jacob,
he displays his glory in Israel.
“This is what the Lord says—
your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb:
I am the Lord,
who has made all things,
who alone stretched out the heavens,
who spread out the earth by myself,
